PSHE and Citizenship
PSHE and Citizenship are an important part of our wider curriculum provision - most of our subjects complement our key focus for PSHE and Citizenship - to educate the ‘whole’ young person, so that they know how to stay healthy, safe, informed and prepared for life and work in modern Britain.
Our PSHE and Citizenship curriculum is a core part of our Personal Development education at SRWA, where this learning journey starts in Year 7 and continues through every year group, including W6.
Not only will our students develop as informed and engaged citizens, they will also gain the self-confidence and self-belief to be able to debate a range of topics, with respect and sensitivity towards others, who live in our diverse society.
We aim to equip our students with the knowledge and skills that will help them make informed decisions about their wellbeing throughout their lives - as independent and resilient people who can successfully negotiate the world around them. With this in mind, we have a strong focus on understanding and caring for mental health, managing emotions and conflict, engaging with multiculturalism and learning that there are manageable ways to care for self and others.
PSHE and Citizenship work alongside and complement our other personal development provision - assemblies, careers, religion, philosophy and ethics as well as a central role when embedding our ASPIRE attributes and SRWA academy ethos.
