Entry requirements
5 in English literature.
Ideally one of the following: BTEC Level 2 Acting, GCSE Drama or AQA Technical Award in Performing Arts (however not essential). Where candidates don't have a qualification in the above courses they will need to either attend a live audition or produce a show-reel.
What will I study
This course is designed to be fully vocational and to give the learner experience of performing live in different venues and in different styles. The course is designed to be flexible and allows students to specialize in both acting as well as production arts. However if the learner is particularly interested in production arts they can just specialize in those areas rather than the acting.
The course is composed of six units: ( Please note these are the Acting units. Production Arts units run alongside these in : Set Design , Lighting, Sound, Costume and Stage Management )
1. 310 Approaches to acting - Year 12
Exploration of the following practitioners: Stanislavski, Brecht, Artaud, Berkoff, Frantic assembly

How will I be assessed?
Each unit is assessed through ongoing coursework and formative assessment. In each unit there are the following aspects of assessment:
Research
Documenting the process of the lesson (written or recorded)
Performance
Evaluation
Is this subject for me?
This course will appeal to anyone with a strong interest in drama/acting and or Production Arts but also if you have a desire to develop and increase your confidence and teamwork skills.
Due to the performance and collaborative nature of the course there will be a requirement for commitment to after school rehearsals and events.
Where can this lead me?
The qualification will provide you with a broad foundation of acting and production arts skills leading to a drama or production arts related degree, a vocational course at drama schools or directly to employment. You will also develop cognitive, problem-solving, intrapersonal and interpersonal skills (such as self-management, adaptability and resilience, self-monitoring and development) vital for employment.

What else is there?
There are numerous high profile performance opportunities including the National Theatre Connections programme in which you will have the opportunity to work with new scripts and perform in The Alan Strong Theatre and at the Minerva Theatre in Chichester.
Participation in performing arts productions in December, February and July.
There is an annual Performing Arts Tour which takes students overseas to perform in a wide range of venues.
Plus, we run a number of trips and work with guest speakers and participate in a range of workshops, including working with the Chichester Festival Theatre, West End shows and industry professionals.
