Goodwood Festival of Speed

Posted on: 13th Jul 2026

On Thursday, July 9th, 28 students from Sir Robert Woodard Academy and W6 Sixth Form experienced a high-octane day of innovation and engineering at the world-renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed.

This incredible opportunity was made possible thanks to the generosity of FOS Tech STEM, who kindly covered all entry costs for our students, ensuring they could experience the absolute cutting edge of the automotive and technology worlds.

The primary hub for our students was the spectacular Future Lab arena. Here, students took full advantage of the chance to look into tomorrow, participating in exclusive meet-and-greets with pioneers from various cutting-edge technology companies. From robotics and AI to sustainable energy and motorsport engineering, the exhibition perfectly bridged the gap between classroom STEM subjects and real-world career paths.

The excitement didn't stop in the labs. The group was thrilled to meet F1 superstar Kimi Antonelli, providing a massive highlight for the motorsport fans among the team.

Students also lined the track to witness an incredible array of vehicles—from historic racing classics to supercar concepts—tackling the legendary Goodwood Hillclimb. The unforgettable day culminated in a spectacular, awe-inspiring fireworks display over Goodwood House.

The trip was a resounding success, leaving both staff and students buzzing with inspiration and excitement about the future of science and technology.

SRWA and W6 would like to extend our warmest thanks to FOS Tech STEM for this amazing opportunity, for championing young people in STEM, and for inviting our academy to be part of such an unforgettable festival.
