Students and staff at the Sir Robert Woodard Academy are proudly celebrating again today as students collect their GCSE results.

As part of an improving picture which has seen attainment rise over recent years, the number of students passing Maths has improved by 9%, and this year there has there has been a dramatic rise in the number of students who achieved the gold standard of Grade 9.

Among them were successful students Morgan Sadler, Sophie Owens, Isabel Faughy, Saffron Bloxham , Lucy Ayres and Eve Eccleston,  who all achieved a grade 7-9 or equivalent in every subject. Morgan, who achieved an astonishing 9 Grade 9s, commented: ‘I’m shaking! I can’t believe I did so well.”’ Lucy Ayres said: ”I’m totally overwhelmed. I didn’t think I would be able to do it. I’m so happy!”

Vice Principal Sue Pike said: ‘We are immensely proud of the huge effort that our students have put in and of the outcomes that they have achieved. It is always wonderful to see students reaping the rewards of dedicated hard work – they will now have exciting opportunities ahead of them as a result’

Kieran Scanlon, Principal, commented: “This shows a steady improvement in all areas, particularly with the turnaround in Maths, up again on last year. Attainment is up, the disadvantaged gap is closing. On the whole we’re very happy with these results.”
